Look no further than this Ultimate Cheeseburger recipe from Lucy Watson&#8217;s cookbook Feed Me Vegan.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a common misconception to think that plant-based diets are low in protein but, grains and pulses have lots of it. In fact, these burgers are mostly made of lentils and chickpeas so you&#8217;re in for a great meal packed with protein. Plus, we&#8217;ve put our Bulk Powders spin on it and you&#8217;ll probably recognise some tasty ingredients from our Active Foods range.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ultimate Vegan Cheeseburger Recipe\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ye4-ZSXEiPU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients (4 burgers):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>15 sprays Bulk Powders 1 Calorie Extra Virgin Olive Oil<\/li>\n<li>1 onion, finely diced<\/li>\n<li>2 garlic cloves, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp ground cumin<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulk.com\/uk\/products\/himalayan-pink-salt\/bpf-psal-hima\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bulk Powders Himalayan Pink Salt<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2 tsp hickory liquid smoke<\/li>\n<li>1 red pepper, deseeded and diced<\/li>\n<li>400g canned chickpeas drained and rinsed<\/li>\n<li>40g <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulk.com\/uk\/products\/ultra-fine-scottish-oats\/bpb-oats-0000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bulk Powders Ultra Fine Oat<\/a><\/li>\n<li>250g cooked Puy lentils from a can or pack (drained if from a can)<\/li>\n<li>50g plain flour<\/li>\n<li>4 slices vegan Cheddar cheese<\/li>\n<li>Freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>To serve:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>4 wholemeal burger buns, halved and toasted<\/li>\n<li>Vegan mayonnaise<\/li>\n<li>8 Little Gem lettuce leaves<\/li>\n<li>Ketchup<\/li>\n<li>2 dill pickles, sliced thickly<\/li>\n<li>American mustard<\/li>\n<li>French fries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Method:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat 15 sprays of oil in a non-stick frying pan over high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes or until soften and translucent.<\/li>\n<li>Add the garlic and red pepper and cook for 4 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in the cumin and salt, cook for 1 minute and then remove from heat.<\/li>\n<li>Leave to cool.<\/li>\n<li>Put the onion mixture in a food processor, followed by the liquid smoke and chickpeas.<\/li>\n<li>Pulse until the mixture is combined but not smooth &#8211; to retain some texture.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer this mixture to a large bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Put the oats into the cleaned food processor and blend until they resemble a coarse flour.<\/li>\n<li>Add this to the bowl followed by the cooked lentils.<\/li>\n<li>Mix well and season with black pepper and cajun.<\/li>\n<li>Divide the mixture into 4 equal burgers and transfer to the fridge to rest for 2-3 hours until firm.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 200\u00b0C (180\u00b0C fan, gas 6).<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the flour over the burgers on both sides.<\/li>\n<li>Dust off any excess flour.<\/li>\n<li>Heat the remaining oil in a non-stick frying pan over high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add the burgers and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a baking tray and cook in the oven for 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the over, add a slice of vegan cheese to each burger and put them back in the oven for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted.<\/li>\n<li>Spread each bun with some vegan mayonnaise.<\/li>\n<li>Put 2 lettuce leaves on the bottom half of each bun.<\/li>\n<li>Top with the burger, ketchup, dill pickles, more mayo and the mustard.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with hot, crispy fries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To buy the products in this recipe, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulk.com\/uk\/bulkeats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bulk Eats<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p>To find other products, have a look at our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bulk.com\/uk\/shop-by-range\/active-foods.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Active Foods<\/a> range.
